Hoosiers Tackle Day 1 of USA Diving Olympic Trials

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - The road to London has begun for several Indiana University divers, both past and present, as the 2012 USA Diving Olympic Trials began Sunday evening at the Weyerhauser Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
Indiana alum and 2008 Olympian Christina Loukas and partner Kassidy Cook are in second place in the women's 3-meter synchronized event with a score of 631.29. They are just 6.51 points behind leaders Abby Johnston and Kelci Bryant heading into Thursday's final round. The top pair will earn the lone U.S. spot at the London games.
Loukas and Cook made it through the preliminary round with a score of 313.83.
Gabby Agostino, who recently completed her IU career, and Logan Kline will also dive in Thursday's final as they sit in sixth place with a score of 490.20. Agostino and Kline were eighth after prelims with a score of 243.60.
Scores at the Trials are cumulative, with preliminaries, semifinals and finals all counting toward team selection. The Trials continue through June 24. Monday's competition features preliminaries and semifinals in men's synchronized 3-meter and the exhibition women's synchronized 10-meter event.
