Catching Up with Mark Murphy

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Safety Mark Murphy earned a spot on the Yahoo Sports, BTN.com and ESPN.com Big Ten All-Freshman teams last season. Murphy led all Big Ten true freshmen with 76 tackles, the most for a Hoosier true freshman since 2003 (Will Meyers - 83).
The Akron, Ohio, native began 2011 working with the safeties, joined the linebackers before game three and returned to safety prior to game seven, where he remained the rest of the season. He finished second on the team with 76 tackles and led the way with 44 solos to go along with one tackle for loss, one interception and four pass breakups.

Indiana opens the 2012 campaign against Indiana State on Saturday, Sept. 1. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET at Memorial Stadium.
