BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University junior diver Darian Schmidt was named the Big Ten Diver of the week, while swimmer Brooklyn Snodgrass took home Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
Schmidt had a record-setting performance on the 3-meter springboard as the Hoosier men swept Ohio State (150-148) and Iowa (172-126) in a dual meet at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center this past Saturday. Schmidt's score of 460.20 broke his own school record of 459.30, set at last year's Big Ten Championship meet.
Snodgrass continues to make a name for herself in the backstroke events, winning the 100 backstroke (54.21-NCAA B Cut) and 200 backstroke (1:56.32-NCAA B Cut) as the Hoosiers posted a 175-125 win over No. 19 Notre Dame. Snodgrass also had a third-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:03.90).
The Hoosier women are back in action this Saturday as they travel to rival Purdue. The 12 p.m. ET dual meet will be shown live on the Big Ten Network, with Rowdy Gaines, Bernie Guenther and Cynthia Potter on the call.
