IU Women Split Dual Meet with Texas, Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's swimming and diving team posted a 181-119 win over Michigan and came just three point short of Texas, falling 158.50-141.50 in a dual meet Friday night at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington.
The Hoosiers opened the night with a win in the 200 medley relay at Brooklynn Snodgrass, Bronwyn Pasloski, Gia Dalesandro and Kait Flederbach clocked time of 1:42.36. The IU women made it 2-for-2 in events as Lindsay Vrooman was tops in the 1,000 freestyle with her time of 9:46.51.
Haley Lips and Vrooman combined to finish 2-3 in the 200 free, with Lips posting a 1:47.91 (NCAA B cut) and Vrooman a 1:48.44. Snodgrass was the winner in the 100 backstroke with her time of 54.36 (NCAA B cut), while Allie Day placed third (54.86).
Pasloski made the Hoosiers winners in four of the first five events as she won the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.56. Heather Hayes finished eighth at 1:05.66. Olivia Barker took the win in the 200 butterfly (1:58.93-NCAA B cut), almost two seconds faster than runner-up Courtney Beidler of Michigan. Brenna MacLean was third in 2:00.47.
Flederbach was runner up in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.23, while Cynthia Pammett finished ninth (24.18). She followed up with another second-place finish, clocking a 50.20 in the 100 freestyle. Stephanie Armstrong was eighth with a time of 51.63.
In diving competition, Cassidy Kahn took fourth in the 1-meter springboard (249.55, with Kate Hillman ninth (219.90). Hillman was fifth on the 3-meter (266.00) and Kahn 10th (199.50).
Snodgrass and Day went 2-3 in the 200 backstroke with Snodgrass coming in at 1:57.39 (NCAA B cut) and Day at 1:59.09 (NCAA B cut). Pasloski touched the wall third in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.63), with Dorina Szekeres seventh (2:22.96).
Vrooman made it a sweep of the distance events with a win in the 500 freestyle at 4:49.01. Right behind was Lips in second at 4:50.23. That was followed by a win in the 100 butterfly for Gia Dalesandro, finishing in 53.96 (NCAA B cut).
Day was the top Hoosier finisher in the 200 individual medley, placing fourth (2:04.29) with Snodgrass fifth (2:04.57). Indiana wrapped up the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle as Flederbach, Lips, Armstrong and Pammett came in at 3:23.60.
