Through two games, the ISU defense has been stifling, holding opponents to just 46.5 points per game while grabbing 13.5 steals per contest. Last season, Indiana State ranked second in the MVC in points allowed per game. Four players have five or more steals on the year. Offensively, it's been Bilqia Abdul-Qaadir and Anna Munn leading the Sycamore attack. Abdul-Qaadir is scoring 17.5 points per game as Munn adds 16.0 points per contest. Munn leads the team in 3-point shooting so far.
HOT START FOR HOOSIER OFFENSE
Indiana opened up the 2013-14 season scoring 85 points in each of its first two games. It marked the first time an IU team had scored over 80 points in consecutive games since the 2006-07 season when IU tallied 81 points against Illinois (2/18/07) and then 83 points vs. Northwestern (2/22/07). The Hoosiers have totaled 170 points in its first two contests, the program's best back-to-back game point total since Nov. 2006 when IU scored 183 points combined in two consecutive games (85 vs. Valparaiso 11/15/06, 98 vs. Dayton 11/19/06).
Indiana's 85 points in the season opening win over Oakland were the most points scored by a Hoosier team since Feb. 19, 2009, when IU tallied 85 points at Northwestern. It was the most points for an IU team in a season opening game since the start of the 2002-03 season when IU downed Wofford, 90-34. The 30-point win was the largest margin of the victory since Dec. 9, 2009, when Indiana topped UT Martin, 80-46.
At IPFW, the Hoosiers scored 43 points in the first half and 42 points in the second half, marking the first time an Indiana team had scored over 40 points in both halves of a game since Nov. 14, 2008 vs. Ball State (44-1st, 40-2nd). Against Oakland, IU scored 48 first half points, the most points Indiana has scored in a half in the Curt Miller era. It was the most points scored by a Hoosier team in a half since IU scored 55 second-half points vs. Virginia on Nov. 26, 2009.
BROOKS NAMED BIG TEN FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Indiana freshman guard Larryn Brooks earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors as announced by the conference office on Nov. 12. She shared the weekly award with Northwestern's Nia Coffey.
Brooks led all scorers with 19 points in IU's 85-55 win over Oakland in the team's season opener on Nov. 9. She shot 6-of-10 from the field, 2-of-3 from 3-point range and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. The Richmond, Ky., native led the Hoosiers with four assists, tied for the team lead with seven rebounds and had a blocked shot. Brooks started in her collegiate debut and played 27 minutes.
DEFENDING THE ARC
Through the first two games this season, Indiana's perimeter defense has held its opponents to shoot just 17.4 percent (8-of-46) from 3-point range. GETTING TO THE LINE
In IU's win over IPFW on Nov. 12, the Hoosiers connected on 29-of-40 free throws in the game. Those 29 makes were the most for a Hoosier team since IU connected on 30 free throws against James Madison in a WNIT game on March 22, 2008. IU's 40 attempts from the charity stripe against the `Dons were the most since Dec. 7, 2002, when the Hoosiers attempted 40 free throws vs. Georgetown in Assembly Hall.
BIG SASH MAKES BIG SPLASH
Sixth-year senior Sasha Chaplin came to play at IPFW on Nov. 12. The 6-4 center scored 21 points, one shy of her career high, in 22 minutes of play in that game, shooting 8-of-12 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line to go along with seven boards. Chaplin has been setting the tone early in both of IU's games this season, scoring the first six Indiana points vs. Oakland and then scoring five points in the first 3:19 at IPFW.

Her 25 points against the `Dons were the most points scored by a Hoosier freshman since 1999 (Jill Chapman, 31 points).
LET'S GO GERARDOT
Senior Tabitha Gerardot returned to her hometown of Ft. Wayne, Ind. when IU battled IPFW on Nov. 12. She scored 10 points in the win, with a pair of boards and two assists. In her IU debut on Nov. 9 vs. Oakland, her presence was felt right away for the Hoosiers as she scored 14 points with six boards and a pair of assists in her first game and start in Assembly Hall. Gerardot shot 5-of-11 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.

She is working on her master's degree in linguistics after earning undergraduate degrees in French and Spanish. Gerardot is fluent in five languages.
The 6-1 Gerardot led the Crusaders in scoring in each of her last two seasons and averaged a near double-double last year with 15.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. She shot 47.4 percent during her junior season from the field and over 34 percent from beyond the arc on her way to earning Second Team All-Horizon League honors. Over her three years at Valpo, Gerardot appeared in every single game for the Crusaders and started in 91 of 93 contests to compile 1,215 career points while bringing in 723 career rebounds.
As a prep player at Canterbury High School, Gerardot led the Cavaliers to three state championships and was named the state tournament's Most Valuable Player in 2008 and 2010. She finished third in the Indiana Miss Basketball voting as a senior in 2010 and was an Indiana All Star while being a First Team All-State selection that season. Gerardot finished her four years of high school with 1,944 career points and graduated as the school's career leader in rebounds with 1,157 boards.
TAYLOR MADE HOOSIER
Freshman Taylor Agler has been a part of the starting backcourt in each of IU's two games this season. At IPFW, Agler scored 13 points and was just shy of a double-double as she was the game leader with nine boards. In the season opener vs. Oakland, Agler led both teams with four steals in the win with three assists and two rebounds. She has logged 36 minutes in each of her first two collegiate games.
HAWAIIAN PUNCH

On opening night vs. Oakland on Nov. 9, she tallied eight points to lead the IU reserves and tied for the team lead with seven boards.
PULL DOWN THAT REBOUND
In each of IU's first two games, Indiana has won the rebounding battle. The Hoosiers are currently outrebounding opponents 86-59 through two games. Against Oakland on Nov. 9, the Hoosiers skied for 50 boards compared to the Golden Grizzlies' 30, a plus-20 rebounding margin, marking the biggest rebounding margin for IU in the Curt Miller era. Indiana also outrebounded IPFW on Nov. 12, 36-29.
FIRST YEAR, FIRST GAME IMPACTS
In Indiana's first game of 2013-14 against Oakland, four of Indiana's five starters were first year players in the program (Taylor Agler, Larryn Brooks, Tabitha Gerardot, Kaila Hulls), including three making their collegiate debuts (Agler, Brooks, Hulls). Of the 85 points scored by the Hoosiers, 62 of those came from first year players for IU. Nine total players made their Hoosier debut against Oakland and eight players made their first appearance in a collegiate game.
