Vrooman, Dalesandro Take Home B1G Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Big Ten Conference announced today that Indiana University senior Lindsay Vrooman is the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week, while Gia Dalesandro is the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Vrooman picks up her second career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award after earning a silver medal in the 1,650 freestyle at the AT&T USA Swimming Winter Nationals last weekend Vrooman's time of 15:54.68 is an NCAA automatic qualifying mark and the third-fastest time in IU history. She also took fourth in the 500 free with an NCAA provisional time of 4:40.99 and also picked up NCAA B cuts in the 200 freestyle (1:47.43) and 800 freestyle relay (7:08.57).
Dalesandro earns her second freshman of the week honor after posting sixth-place finishes in the 100 butterfly (52.93) and 200 butterfly (1:56.78), both NCAA B cuts. She was also part of the 400 medley relay that earned a bronze medal with an NCAA qualifying time of 3:34.13.
The Hoosiers will continue to train over the winter break before returning to action on January 18 at Iowa, facing the Hawkeyes, Missouri and Illinois.
