BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana Rowing team will hold its first home regatta of the spring season when it plays host to Georgetown and Kansas on Saturday, April 6, at Riddle Point Park on Lake Lemon in Bloomington.
The Hoosiers are coming off a sweep of Dayton and Eastern Michigan in a scrimmage on Lake Lemon last weekend. This Saturday's racing will get underway with the Novice 8 race at 9 a.m. ET and will conclude with the 1st Varsity 8 race at 10:15 a.m. Before racing begins, Indiana Athletics will hold a boat dedication at 8 a.m. at Riddle Point.
"It's our first 2,000-meter home race of the year and there are a lot of reasons we are excited," said head coach Steve Peterson. "First off, we're actually dedicating our new shell, which is a great event for any rowing team. We're really excited about it. Fred Glass, our Director of Athletics, is going to help us out with it and it's a great way to start the day off. The racing with Georgetown and Kansas is going to be great. Similar to us, they have had limited water time, so we don't really have a lot of information to go on as far as race results. The few that they've had, they've done a nice job so we expect it to be a good challenge."
Indiana will compete in the Big Ten Double Duals next weekend (April 13) in Ann Arbor, Mich., before traveling back to South Carolina for the Clemson Invitational, April 20-21. The Hoosiers will then hold the fifth annual Dale England Cup on April 26-27 on Lake Lemon.
