STRONG START TO SENIOR YEAR
Senior David Mills has been thrust into a leadership role on the IU team and he has led by example through the first two tournaments. He started the year with a T4 finish at the Northern Intercollegiate and then followed that up with a T12 finish at Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational last week.
BIG TEN GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Senior David Mills picked up his first career Big Ten weekly honor on Monday, when the conference selected him as the Big Ten Golfer of the Week. The Evansville native earned the award after a T4 finish at the Northern Intercollegiate last weekend. He posted rounds of 74, 68 and 72 on his way to his seventh career top 5 finish in a tournament.
A LOT OF CRIMSON OUT THERE
Serving as the host of the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, the Hoosiers are taking full advantage by putting eight players in the field this weekend. In addition to the five competing towards a team score, there will be three individuals competing.
Making their 2013-14 debut will be Andrew Fogg, playing for the team, and freshman Keegan Vea, making his collegiate debut as an individual.
TALKING IU MEN'S GOLF
Coach Mayer talks about the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational and looks back at the team's performance at the Northern Intercollegiate last week.
GOING LOW
David Mills' second round score of 68 at the Northern Intercollegiate was tied for the best round of the day on Saturday and put him in a position to compete for the individual title on the final day. It was also his lowest round since shooting a 66 in April of 2012.
