BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's and women's cross country teams both took first place at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet on Friday evening in Bloomington. Kelsey Duerksen of IU took first place overall individually in the women's 5K run.
In the men's race, IU combined for a team score of 25 points. Nolan Fife was the top Hoosier finisher in third place with a time of 25:10 in the 8K race. Rorey Hunter of IU placed fourth (25:10), Carl Smith finished in fifth (25:14), JR Ricker placed sixth (25:19) and Owen Skeete rounded out the Hoosier scoring in seventh place (25:22) overall. All seven IU runners placed in the top 10.
On the women's side, Duerksen clocked in at 17:28 to lead the way as IU scored a combined 21 points. Indiana's Samantha Ginther crossed the line in 17:36 in third place. Other Hoosiers scoring in the race were Bethany Neeley (fourth, 18:08), Erica Ridderman (sixth, 18:19) and Brianna Johnson (seventh, 18:23). Just like the men, all seven Hoosier women finished in the top 10.
The Hoosiers will next head to Bethlehem, Pa., to participate Lehigh Paul Short Run. That meet takes place on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. ET.
