SETTING THE SCENE • Indiana is looking to snap a two-game losing streak when it plays host to West Virginia Sunday night at Armstrong Stadium.
• The Hoosiers are coming off a disappointing 2-1 overtime loss at No. 18 UAB Friday night. • After taking a 1-0 lead, UAB tied the match with 46 seconds remaining on a penalty kick, then scored the game winner with 17 seconds left in the first overtime.
• It is the first back-to-back losses for the Hoosiers since the 2011 season, when they lost three-straight at Wisconsin, to No. 11 Louisville and No. 5 Creighton. • Tonight's game kicks off a slate of four-straight home matches for the Hoosiers.
NEWS AND NOTES • Senior A.J. Corrado scored his first goal of the season but the Hoosiers could not hang on in a 2-1 overtime loss at No. 18 UAB on Sept. 6.
• Corrado scored Indiana's lone goal in the 52nd minute with Nikita Kotlov assisting on the play. • The Hoosiers were 46 seconds away from victory when UAB was awarded a penalty kick, which Diego Navarrete converted.
• Indiana had several chances in the first overtime, including a shot from Nikita Kotlov that was cleared off the line by a UAB defender when the goalkeeper was caught out. • With 17 seconds left in the first OT, Alex Clay hit a shot that was parried by IU goalkeeper Michael Soderlund. Rami Dajani got his head on the rebound and knocked it in for the game-winning score.
• The Hoosiers out-shot UAB 23-13 for the match, with nine of UAB's 13 shots coming in the last 25 minutes of play. • The Hoosiers are 0-2 in OT matches this season, 0-1 on penalty kick attempts.
• The Hoosiers placed third in the 2013 adidas/IU Credit Union Classic with a 2-1 win over SMU and a 1-0 OT loss to No. 9 UCLA. • In the SMU match, the Mustangs jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal from Alfred Koroma in the 10th minute.
• The Hoosiers answered back in the 42nd minute as sub Femi Hollinger-Janzen headed home a rebound off a shot from Matt McKain that bounced off the cross bar and back into the field of play. • The teams were even in shot attempts at the half at 5-5.
• The game-winning goal came in the 72nd minute as defender Patrick Doody tallied his first career goal. • Thompson, Billy McConnell, Dylan Mares and Tanner Thompson all made their IU debuts in the match.
• Against UCLA, the Hoosiers could not find the back of the net in a 1-0 OT loss. • After a second-half that was dominated by the Hoosiers, out-shooting the Bruins by a 9-3 margin, UCLA took advantage of a miscue in the back just 49 seconds into the first overtime period. Indiana goalkeeper Michael Soderlund came off his line to try and push the ball off the foot of a charging Victor Chavez but the ball did not move out of reach and Chavez danced around Soderlund for an open net goal at 90:49.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS • West Virginia is coming off a 3-0 loss at Georgetown on Friday afternoon.
