Snodgrass, Dalesandro Earn Big Ten Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Big Ten Conference announced today that sophomore Brooklynn Snodgrass is the Swimmer of the Week, while Gia Dalesandro takes home Freshman of the Week honors for the second-consecutive week and fourth time this season.
Snodgrass and Dalesandro helped lead the IU women to a 153.5-135.5 win over in-state rival Purdue last weekend in Bloomington. Snodgrass won all four events she swam, led by victories in the 100 backstroke (53.97-NCAA B Cut) and 200 backstroke (1:56.11-NCAA B cut). She also swam on the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:40.76) and 400 freestyle relay (3:24.20). It is the fifth career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award for Snodgrass.
Dalesandro also went undefeated in her events, taking the 200 butterfly in 1:59.59 (NCAA B cut), the 100 fly in 54.44 (NCAA B cut) and 200 individual medley in 2:02.44. Dalesandro joined Snodgrass on the 200 medley relay.
The IU women, along with the men, are back in action this Friday as they play host to the Louisville Cardinals. Meet time is 5 p.m. ET at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.
