BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- For the second time in three weeks Indiana has picked up Big Ten Diver and Swimmer of the Week awards, with sophomore Michael Hixon the Big Ten Diver of the Week and junior Brooklynn Snodgrass the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week.
Hixon wins his first Big Ten honor after sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in a quad meet with Michigan, Texas and Louisville in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Hixon posted a 1-meter score of 393.50, winning the event by almost 30 points Friday. Saturday he returned to the pool for the 3-meter competition, edging out Texas' Mark Anderson with a score of 394.45 to Anderson's 386.80.
Snodgrass is the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week for the second-straight week after another dominating performance at the quad in Michigan. She won the 100 backstroke in 52.48, currently the top time in the NCAA this season. She remained undefeated in the backstroke races with a win in the 200 back, clocking a time of 1:53.29, which is also the fastest in the NCAA this season.
Snodgrass was also part of IU's winning 400 freestyle relay and placed second in the 200 IM.
The Hoosiers are back in action this Friday as both the men and women travel to Knoxville, Tenn. for a double dual meet with Kentucky and the host Volunteers.
