Volleyball Captures 3-0 Victory at Rutgers

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Sophomore Taylor Lebo registered eight kills in the first set and the Indiana volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-10) road victory at Rutgers on Sunday.
The Hoosiers (12-4, 3-1) fell behind 3-0 in the first set, but came back with a kill from sophomore Jazzmine McDonald and an ace by sophomore Allison Hammond. Lebo connected on back-to-back kills to ignite a 4-0 spurt to give the Hoosiers control in the first set.
Sophomore setter Megan Tallman collected 31 assists for the match as now has 694 for the season, which passes for total of 689 from all of 2013.
For the second consecutive match, junior middle blocker Awele Nwaeze tallied nine blocks. Hammond led IU with 13 digs in the match.
In the third set the Hoosiers continued the positive momentum and got out to a 17-4 lead on a block by Nwaeze and Tallman. Freshman Jessica Leish had two aces near the end of the set and Lebo ended the match and the set for the Hoosiers with a kill.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Purdue on Wednesday Oct. 8 for a match at 7:00 p.m.
