BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team dropped a three set match to No. 4 Wisconsin (18-25, 15-25, 18-25) on Saturday at University Gym.
Junior Amelia Anderson led the Hoosiers (14-10, 5-7) with nine kills, six digs and four blocks.
Senior Morgan Leach, who was honored with a game ball prior to the match for reaching 1,000 career kills, connected on six kills in the match.
Sophomore Megan Tallman tallied 16 assists and junior libero Courtney Harnish recorded nine digs to move into a tie for 10th on the Hoosiers all-time single season dig list with 381.
The Hoosiers got off to a quick start against the Badgers so they jumped to a 6-3 lead in set one on a kill by Leach. The Badgers (20-2, 11-1) mounted an 8-4 run to go up 11-10. Despite seven ties in the opening set, the Hoosiers could not reclaim the lead and fell 18-25 in set one.
In set two it was the Badgers that spurted to a 9-4 lead. IU would close to within three at 10-7 on a kill by Anderson, but Wisconsin’s efficient offensive attack lead them on an 5-1 run to take a decisive 15-8 lead and win the set 25-15.
In set three Anderson connected on five kills on six attempts, for a .667 hitting percentage by errors hurt the Hoosiers as they dropped the third set and the match.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Iowa for a match on Wednesday Nov. 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
