Indiana Notes |
• Indiana finished with a season-high five sacks. The last time the Hoosiers recorded at least five sacks came back on Oct. 27, 2012 at Illinois when they collected seven.
• IU also matched a season-best with 11 tackles for loss (Missouri). The Hoosiers held Penn State to 4-of-17 (23.5 percent) on third down and made a pair of interceptions for the second time this year (North Texas).
• Penn State's 13 points are the fewest allowed by Indiana in a Big Ten game since giving up 13 vs. Illinois on Oct. 8, 2005. Christian Hackenberg's 168 pass yards are the fewest allowed by Indiana in a Big Ten game since Nov. 23, 2013, at Ohio State (160). The Nittany Lions 330 total yards are the fewest Indiana surrendered to a Big Ten team since Nov. 27, 2010 at Purdue.
• Senior safety Mark Murphy put the Hoosiers on the board with a 47-yard interception return, the second touchdown return of his career. Murphy recorded a 31-yard score at North Texas on Sept. 24, 2011, also the last time a Hoosier ran an INT back for six points.
• Senior defensive linemen Bobby Richardson picked up a sack in the first half. He improves his team-best total to 5.5 on the year and 11 in his career. He also leads the Hoosiers with 20 career tackles for loss.
• Richardson blocked a 23-yard Sam Ficken field goal attempt in the second quarter, his first field goal block of his career. He also has two blocked extra points in his career (Bowling Green - Sept. 13, 2014; Purdue - Nov. 30, 2013).
• Flo Hardin recorded his second sack of the season and his career in the first quarter. The senior linebacker shared the team lead with six tackles.
• Redshirt freshman nose tackle Nate Hoff added his third sack of the season in the second quarter.
• Sophomore nose tackle Ralph Green III and sophomore safety Antonio Allen added back-to-back sacks in the fourth quarter. Green now has 1.5 in 2014 and 2.5 in his career, while Allen collected the first of his career.
• Senior linebacker David Cooper and sophomore linebacker T.J. Simmons also shared team-high honors with six tackles apiece.
• Tevin Coleman finished the contest with 71 yards on 20 carries. The junior did not reach 100 yards for the first time this season and saw his streak of 10 straight 100-yarders snapped. His streak was the tied for the 12th-longest nationally since 1996 and the longest for a Big Ten running back since Wisconsin's John Clay had 10 (2009-10).
• Zander Diamont finished the game with a career-high 58 rushing yards on 14 rushes. He completed 13-of-27 for 68 yards.
• True freshman wide receiver Dominique Booth netted career-highs with four receptions and 33 yards.
• True freshman linebacker Greg Gooch had his first career interception in the fourth quarter.
• True freshman tight end Jordan Fuchs recorded a career-long 24-yard reception.
• True freshman wide receiver Simmie Cobbs earned his first career start.
• Cornerback Tim Bennett (third time this season), offensive lineman Collin Rahrig (fifth) and wide receiver Shane Wynn served as game captains.
