Indiana Earns 7-0 Victory Over Illinois State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After not playing up to the level they thought they should, which culminated in a 4-1 loss against No. 41 Dartmouth, the No. 61 Indiana men’s tennis team picked up a 7-0 victory against Illinois State Sunday at the IU Tennis Center.
Sophomore Sam Monette led the Hoosiers (8-7) as he won both of his singles matches and combined with fellow sophomore Daniel Bednarczyk to win two doubles matches.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Evanston, Ill. for a match against Northwestern on Sunday March 9.
Indiana 7, Illinois State 0
After Monette and Bednarczyk captured the first doubles match 8-4 things got tight. The No. 3 doubles team of sophomores Elliott Yee and Michael Sellitto led 7-6 and the No. 2 doubles team of senior Dimitrije Tasic and junior Sven Lalic were about to start a tiebreak at 7-7. Yee and Sellitto came through for the Hoosiers and clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 victory.
The Hoosiers came out strong in the singles portion of the match, capturing three set one wins with a score of 6-1. Bednarczyk finished first with a 6-1, 6-3 victory, followed closely by his doubles partner Monette, who claimed a 6-1, 6-4 win.
Tasic clinched the match for the Hoosiers with a 6-1, 6-2 victory and Yee, Lalic and Sellitto also captured match victories.

Sophomores Daniel Bednarczyk got the first victory for the Hoosiers with a 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
With Dartmouth winning at No. 3 doubles, the point came down to the No. 1 court. Junior Sven Lalic and senior Dimitrije Tasic rallied from down 7-5 to make it 7-6, but eventually fell 8-6 in the match.
In singles No. 53 ranked Sam Monette captured a convincing victory with a 6-3, 6-4 win.
Dartmouth would go on to win at No. 4, 5, and 6 to claim the match 4-1 as the other two matches went unfinished. At No. 3 Tasic led his match 6-3, 6-5.
