BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Eight Hoosier wrestlers earned Academic All-Big Ten honors this week. Forty-nine different IU wrestlers have seized these accolades since 1987 for a total of 101 times.
A total of 42 Indiana University student-athletes across five sports were selected as Winter Academic All-Big Ten honorees, highlighted by 14 from men's swimming and diving. The Big Ten honored a total 679 student-athletes from men's and women's basketball, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's hockey, men's and women's swimming and diving, and wrestling.
"To have this many Academic All-Big Ten honorees speaks volumes about the quality of our student-athletes, coaches and academic support staff," said IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
