IU's 1V8 Wins, Races Postponed to Sunday

First Varsity 8 Finish (Morning): No. 20 Indiana 7:05.8, No. 12 Washington State 7:06.6, No. 14 Harvard 7:09.4, No. 18 Syracuse 7:12.2, No. 15 Wisconsin 7:14.4, Dartmouth 7:17.2, Iowa 7:31.9
CLEMSON, SC - The No. 20 Indiana Rowing team opened the Clemson Invitational with its First Varsity 8 crew picking up a win in the morning session on Saturday, April 19 on Lake Hartwell in Clemson. Saturday's evening session was postponed to Sunday due to poor racing conditions.
IU's 1V8 dominated from the open and battled to beat out No. 12 Washington State (7:06.6) at the finish with a time of 7:05.8, beating the Cougars by one second. The Hoosiers also finished ahead of No. 14 Harvard (7:09.4), No. 18 Syracuse (7:12.2), No. 15 Wisconsin (7:14.4), Dartmouth (7:17.2) and Iowa (7:31.9). The Hoosiers' Second Varsity 8 also performed well, finishing just three seconds behind Harvard (7:28.2) to take second in 7:31.8. IU edged Washington State (7:32.1) and Wisconsin (7:33.3) at the finish, while Syracuse took fifth in 7:36.7, Iowa finished sixth in 7:50.7 and Dartmouth finished seventh in 8:00.4.
Indiana's Novice 8 took third in the final race of the morning with a time of 7:44.6, beating out Syracuse (8:00.2) by nearly six seconds, followed by Iowa (8:06.6) in fifth, Washington State (8:07.5) in sixth and Texas (8:13.1) in seventh. The Hoosiers narrowly missed Wisconsin (7:38.3) for second place, while Harvard took first in 7:37.6.
IU's First Varsity 4 crew finished took sixth with a time of 8:51.0, beating Dartmouth (8:55.7) by six seconds, while the Second Varsity 4 crew finished in 9:36.0 for seventh in their race.
Racing is slated to continue on Sunday with two sessions starting at 7:45 a.m. ET.
