INDIANAPOLIS - Jessica Parratto (Dover, N.H./Bloomington, Ind.) has been added to USA Diving's roster for the upcoming FINA Diving World Cup, which will be held July 15-20 in Shanghai. Held every other year, the World Cup is the top international competition of the 2014 season.
Parratto, will compete in women's 10-meter at the World Cup. She'll replace Anna James (Midland, Texas/West Lafayette, Ind.), who withdrew to focus on fully recovering from knee surgery she had in March. With Olympic qualifying beginning next year, 2014 is a key time for athletes to concentrate on getting healthy leading up to the important 2015 and 2016 seasons.
Parratto finished third on 10-meter behind national champion Murphy Bromberg (Bexley, Ohio/Austin, Texas) and James at the 2013 USA Diving Winter National Championships in December, when individual spots on the World Cup team were determined.
In May, Parratto finished fourth on 10-meter at a FINA Grand Prix meet in Guanajuato, Mexico. In April, she was ninth in a FINA Diving World Series meet in London, Great Britain. This will be Parratto's second trip to Shanghai; at the 2011 World Championships, she advanced to the semifinals and finished 15th on 10-meter.
