GLASGOW, Scotland - Indiana University junior Brooklynn Snodgrass ended her Commonwealth Games with a spot on the medal stand, taking bronze in the 50-meter backstroke Tuesday at the Tollcross Swimming Centre in Glasgow, Scotland.
Snodgrass' time of 27.97 is a new Canadian record as she out-touched Australia's Emily Seebohm by 1/100th of a second for the medal. Snodgrass made the championship final of both events she swam in Scotland as she posted an eighth-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke earlier in the Games.
Snodgrass' summer of international swimming continues in August as she will represent Team Canada at the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships, August 21-25 in Australia.
She returns to Indiana for her junior season this fall after earning Big Ten Swimmer of the Year honors for 2013-14. Snodgrass is the reigning NCAA Champion in the 200-yard backstroke and has swept the 100 and 200 back at the Big Ten Championships in her first two seasons with the Hoosiers.
