Hoosiers Drop Five Set Match to UIC

CHICAGO – After dropping the first two sets to UIC, the Indiana volleyball team battled back to take the next two, but came up short in the fifth set as they fell 2-3 against the Flames on Friday to open the UIC Invitational (23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 16-18).
Junior Awele Nwaeze led the Hoosiers (6-1) with 16 kills and hit at a .407 percentage for the match. Also in double-digit kills were Allison Hammond, Morgan Leach and Jazzmine McDonald.
Sophomore Megan Tallman recorded her 1,000th career assist in the match and finished with 55 assists and five blocks. Junior libero Courtney Harnish tallied 17 digs.
The Hoosiers had their highest block total of the season with 15 total team blocks, led by McDonald with seven blocks and three players with five.
