Volleyball Wins Hoosier Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday, with a 3-0 win over Western Illinois (25-22, 25-17, 25-13) and a 3-0 defeat against Butler (27-29, 23-25, 30-28).
The Hoosiers (9-3) were one of three teams to finish the weekend 2-1 and won the tournament on a sets lost tiebreaker.
Sophomore Taylor Lebo led the Hoosiers in kills in both matches with 13 in the first match and 16 in the second match. Lebo had a double-double against Western Illinois as she added 10 digs as well. Lebo, who ranks 10th in the NCAA in service aces had three against Western Illinois and four service aces on her high-flying jump serve against Butler.
Senior Morgan Leach recorded 12 kills on 16 attempts against Western Illinois for a .750 hitting percentage. Leach now has 953 kills for her career and moved into 17th place on the Hoosiers all-time list.
Sophomore setter Megan Tallman, who was honored on Friday night for recording her 1,000th career dig, tallied 78 digs over the two matches, for an average of 13 assists per set.
The match against Butler was a tightly contested duel; with a combined 32 ties and nine lead changes in the match.
The Hoosiers will look to build off their non-conference schedule as they open the Big Ten portion of their schedule Friday, as they host Michigan State in an 8:00 p.m. game that will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
