Fournier is also second in all-time assists (145) and second in all-time steals (311). 2014 IN REVIEW
Indiana Water Polo and Head Coach Barry King had one of the most successful seasons in school history in 2014. The 2014 Hoosiers finished the year with a 24-7 record (77.4 win percentage is the highest in school history) after going 8-0 in the CWPA. The team was crowned Michigan Invitational, Brown Invitational and CWPA Champions.
The Hoosiers reached the CWPA Championship game to face rival Princeton by defeating Michigan in the semifinals. It seemed as if Indiana's NCAA hopes were all but shot after Princeton jumped out to a quick 4-0 nothing lead. Indiana was resilient, though, and slowly worked their way back into the game and a 10-10 tie.
With little time remaining, then-senior Shae Fournier launched a shot at the goal which bounced off of the crossbar and deflected of off the Tiger goalie to give Indiana an 11-10 lead. A final possession for Princeton saw goalkeeper, Jessica Gaudreault, and the Hoosier defense hold true. Indiana was crowned CWPA Champions for the third time in school history, thus earning a right to play in the NCAA Championships.
After defeating Wagner in a play-in game at home, the Hoosiers played the No. 1 seed and eventual National Champions, Stanford in the first round. After being defeated by the Cardinal and Arizona State in the consolation, the Hoosiers defeated UC-San Diego to finished in seventh place.
