Hoosiers Win Dramatic 4-3 Match at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. - For the second straight match the No. 65 Indiana men's tennis team found themselves in a 3-3 tie with the match coming down to one singles match.
For the second straight day it was sophomore Matthew McCoy, who delivered to give IU a 4-3 win against No. 46 Dartmouth on Saturday.
McCoy won his first set, but dropped set two in a tiebreak. In set three McCoy found himself down 5-4 with Dartmouth serving for the match.
McCoy won the point and eventually pushed the third set to a tiebreak, but trailed 5-1 in the tiebreak. The Bloomington, Ind., native, McCoy rallied to score six in a row to go up 6-5. With the tiebreak at 6-6, McCoy won two in a row to take the match and give the Hoosiers the 4-3 win.
The Hoosiers (2-0) came off to a solid start with doubles wins from Chris Essick/Stefan Lugonjic and Sven Lalic/Raheel Manji to earn the doubles point.
In addition to McCoy's win IU also got wins in singles from Manji and Lalic.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Vanderbilt on Friday Jan. 30. The Hoosiers will host their home opener on Sunday Feb. 1 at 10:00 a.m. ET against Western Michigan at the IU Tennis Center.
