BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's swimming team led wire-to-wire as it celebrated Senior Night at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center Friday with a 170-130 victory over the Louisville Cardinals. A split men's squad also posted a 139-104 win over Evansville.
Marie Chamberlain, Claudia Di Capua, Gia Dalesandro and Ali Rockett took second in the 200 medley relay in 1:43.64, while the men's quartet of Brandon Colonis, Jack Wallar, Kyle Johnson and Luke Lete were winners in their race vs. Evansville in 1:34.15.
It was a 1-2-3 Hoosier finish in the 1,000 free with Stephanie Marchuk winning in 10:00.49. Haley Lips took second (10:03.72) and Dorina Szekeres third (10:09.30). Andrej Ivanovic won for the men in 9:37.61.
Indiana added a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 free with Lips (1:47.59), Kennedy Goss (1:48.24) and Grace Vertigans (1:49.25). Johnson, John Winck and Ivanovic went 1-2-3 in the men's race.
Brooklynn Snodgrass led a 1-2-3-4 finish for IU in the 100 back, winning in 53.44. Justine Ress was second (55.64), Chamberlain third (55.70) and Allie Day fourth (56.51). Murray Crabtree was a winner in 52.50.
Jonathan Panchak won the 100 breastroke in 57.38, while Sam Lisy was the top finisher for the women in 1:05.95.
Reagan Cook led the way in the 200 butterfly, taking second in 1:59.46. Bailey Pressey was third with a time of 2:00.34. Colonis (1:53.53) and Philip Butler (1:56.19) went 1-2 for the men.
Snodgrass was the first Hoosier to the wall in the 50 free in 22.31, with Vertigans third (23.47) and Rockett fourth (23.51). Luke Lete led the men in 21.25.
It was 1-2 for the IU divers on the 3-meter with Jessica Parratto first (342.69) and Lacey Houser second (333.00). It was the same order on the 1-meter with Parrato scoring 316.95 points and Houser 307.35.
Swimming started back up with the 100 free as Vertigans took second in 51.03. John Winck won for the men with a time of 47.42.
It went 1-2-3 Indiana in the 200 backstroke with Snodgrass (1:54.10), Goss (1:58.87) and Day (2:00.71). Crabtree made it a sweep for the men with a time of 1:53.81.
Lisy led Indiana in the 200 breaststroke, taking fourth in 2:22.39. Panchak led a 1-2-3-4 finish for the men with a time of 2:03.96.
A 1-2-3 showing in the 500 free was led by Lips in 4:52.88. Goss took second (4:54.69) and Marchuk third (4:55.34).
Barker (55.26) and Dalesandro (55.48) went 2-3 in the 100 butterfly, while Johnson won for the men in 50.51. Lisy took second in the 400 IM (4:19.42) and Pressey third (4:21.30). It was Panchak for the men in a time of 4:04.21.
Indiana put a stamp on its win over Louisville with a victory in the 400 free relay as Goss, Rockett, Vertigans and Snodgrass combined for a time of 3:21.98. Lete, Jack Wallar, Winck and Johnson took the men's race in 3:09.27.
The rest of the Indiana men's squad is in action tomorrow as the Hoosiers take on Ohio State and Louisville in Columbus, Ohio. The meet gets underway at 1 p.m. ET at the McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion.
