Crooked Stick Shows Teeth In Final Round As IU Finishes Ninth

CARMEL, Ind. – With the wind blowing out of the north, Crooked Stick Golf Club showed why it has hosted some of the biggest names in golf and is a true test of golf on Tuesday in the final round of the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate.

Indiana entered the final round in 10^th place as a team but their final round score of 316 gave them a total score of 934 (318-300-316) for the tournament and they moved up one spot for a ninth place finish.

The average score for the 66 golfers competing in Tuesday's final round was 79.6 after Monday's first two rounds had averages of 77.4 and 76.2.

Sophomore Brendon Doyle matched the day's average round with a 79 in his third round. After going out in Even par 36, he bogeyed three of his first four holes on his second nine and came in with a 43. His total score of 232 (80-73-79) gave him a tie for 30^th.

The best round of the day for the IU team came from junior Andrew Havill, as he carded a 77 by avoiding the big number for most of his round. He started his day with a birdie on the 10^th hole and then got back to 1-over par with a birdie on 16 but would end up going out with a 38. Then coming in, he would get to the 8^th hole at six-over par but a birdie on 8 allowed him to finish with a 77. He tied for 34^th individually with a overall score of 233 (80-76-77).

Max Kollin logged a final round score of 80 to finish the tournament at 22-over par (238) and a tie for 45^th. Just one shot behind him at 239 for the tournament was Jake Brown and Keegan Vea to tie for 47^th on the individual leaderboard.

Competing as individuals, Jack Sparrow put together a strong final round 77, leaving him with a score of 240 for the tournament and a tie for 51^st. Freshman Trevor Ranton closed with an 83 to put his total score at 243 and a tie for 56^th.

Next up on the schedule for the Hoosiers is the Quail Valley Collegiate in Vero Beach, Fla, on Oct. 26-27.
