Hoosiers Fall at No. 5 Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Senior Amelia Anderson led the Hoosiers with 10 kills but the Indiana volleyball team dropped a three set match (25-18, 25-15, 25-14) at No. 5 Penn State on Friday.
In the opening set, the Nittany Lions got out to a quick 9-3 lead, but the Hoosiers responded with a 4-0 run ended by a kill from Taylor Lebo to cut the deficit to 9-7.
The Hoosiers (12-7, 2-5) kept within three at 13-10, until a 5-1 run by Penn State put the Nittany Lions up 18-11.
The Hoosiers had six different players record a kill in set one and 17 digs, but dropped the first set to Penn State, 25-18.
In set two the Hoosiers got out to a quick 3-1 lead on a kill from Anderson. Penn State came back with a 8-2 run to claim a 9-5 lead and force an Indiana timeout.
Anderson had five kills in the set, but Penn State took a 2-0 advantage in the match with a 25-15 set victory.
Sophomore Jessica Leish gave the Hoosiers a lift in the third set with four kills on the way to a career-high six kills for the match, but Penn State closed it out with a 25-14 set victory.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Columbus for a Sunday match against the Buckeyes at 1:00 p.m. ET.
