Hoosier Hysteria Brings Out Best in Hoosiers

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Even though most college basketball teams have been practicing officially for at least a couple of weeks, getting the opportunity to perform in front of the home fans for the first time is something every player relishes.
Since the Hoosiers have been unable to practice in Assembly Hall since the end of last season, it will be an even bigger deal for five Hoosiers Saturday night at Hoosier Hysteria presented by Smithville Fiber.
Freshmen Thomas Bryant, Juwan Howard, O.G. Anunoby and Harrison Niego will join graduate transfer Max Bielfeldt for their first ever workout as a member of the Cream and Crimson in one of the most storied venues in college basketball.
"When I came here with Michigan, this was without a doubt the loudest arena I had ever played in," said Bielfeldt. "Knowing that we get to get back into Assembly Hall means the season is that much closer."
The event also gives the team a chance to show off some of the skills they have been working on during the offseason and offers a chance to earn bragging rights against each other while competing in the annual dunk and three-point contests.
"It is something we look forward too," said junior Troy Williams. "We are a competitive group that likes to push one another toward improving. You never know who is going to shine that night. I remember at Hoosier Hysteria the year before I came Cody Zeller won the three-point contest."
The Hoosiers enter the season ranked 15th in the USA Today Coaches Poll. It marks the fifth straight year that IU has been nationally ranked by one of the two major polls.
