
Hoosiers Come Up Short Against No. 8 Nebraska

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Amelia Anderson led the Indiana volleyball team with 13 kills, but the Hoosiers fell in three sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-20) to No. 8 Nebraska at University Gym on Saturday.
Anderson moved into 17th on the Hoosiers all-time list for career kills and now has 1,069 for her career. Fellow senior Courtney Harnish, tallied 11 digs on the night and moved into eighth on the Hoosiers all-time list for career digs and now has 1,039.
The Indiana defense had six blocks, but had trouble containing the potent Nebraska (20-4, 11-3) offense with the Cornhuskers hitting at a .366 hitting efficiency for the match.
Junior Allison Hammond registered nine kills and senior Awele Nwaeze contributed seven kills on 11 swings and two errors for a .455 hitting efficiency. Nwaeze also picked up three block assists for the night.
After falling behind 2-0 in the match, the Hoosiers (13-13, 3-11) played a solid third set, hitting their best of the match at .286. Indiana connected on 15 kills with 13 of junior Megan Tallman's 30 assists and Anderson tallied seven kills and hit .429 for the third set.
The Hoosiers and Cornhuskers played to seven ties in the early going, splitting the first 20 points evenly, 10-10. Nebraska built momentum with a 4-0 spurt and the Hoosiers did not get closer then three points the rest of the way.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Rutgers for a Wednesday night match and return home on Saturday Nov. 14 when they host Michigan State.
