Men's Tennis Earns Double-Header Victories

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 53 Indiana men’s tennis team improved to 4-1 on the season with wins against Western Michigan and Northern Illinois on Sunday at the IU Tennis Center.
Indiana 6, Western Michigan 1
After dropping the doubles point, the Hoosiers came back to win all six singles matches for the 6-1 victory over Western Michigan.
Junior Sam Monette put IU on the board with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles. Senior Sven Lalic and freshman Raheel Manji puts the Hoosiers up 3-1 with 6-4, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-0 victories.
Sophomore Stefan Lugonjic clinched the match for the Hoosiers with a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles. Sophomore Matthew McCoy and junior Daniel Bednarczyk won their matches to close out the 6-1 win for the Hoosiers.
Indiana 4, Northern Illinois 0
The Hoosiers came out with an intense focus in their second match of the day and after dropping the doubles point in the earlier match they claimed the first point of the match with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, 6-2 and 6-0.
Freshman Raheel Manji, who won both his singles match for the Hoosiers, gave Indiana a second point with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.
Junior Sam Monette also earned his second singles win of the day with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph to give the Hoosiers a 3-0 lead.
If was sophomore Stefan Lugonjic, who clinched the match for the Hoosiers with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles.
Up next the Hoosiers host another doubleheader on Friday Feb. 6, with a match against Murray State at 9:00 a.m. ET and a showdown with Oregon at 6:00 p.m. ET.
