ORLANDO, Fla. - Behind a three-run fifth-inning rally by Miami (Oh.), the Indiana softball team dropped its final game of the Citrus Classic II to the RedHawks on Sunday afternoon, 3-2.
After freshman Taylor Uden reached on a two-out single in the third inning, she advanced to second base on a Miami error and went to third on a Kelsey Dotson walk. Uden then put the Hoosiers on the board after a second RedHawk error extended the inning on a fielder’s choice from Michelle Huber, allowing Uden to score from third.
Indiana (3-16) held Miami scoreless until the fifth inning when the RedHawks recorded four straight singles to put three runners across the plate and take a 3-2 lead.
Senior Shannon Cawley gave the Hoosiers light in the top of the seventh, sending a two-out solo home run over the left field wall to make it 3-2. However, Indiana would get no closer as Miami (7-4) sealed the victory with a groundout.
Miami pitcher Amber Logemann picked up the win for the RedHawks after striking out seven batters and allowing just one run and one hit in 4.1 innings of relief work.
Lora Olson took the loss for the Hoosiers, but had a solid outing, giving up just two earned runs on six hits in 4.1 innings in the circle.
