SETTING THE SCENE • Coming off a second-place finish at the 2015 Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships, the Hoosiers will send 12 swimmers, two relay alternates and two divers to the NCAA Championships, March 29-21 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C..

NEWS AND NOTES • Justine Ress and Allie Day are making their fourth NCAA appearances. Brooklynn Snodgrass, Haley Lips, Cynthia Pammett and Dorina Szekeres are at the NCAA meet for the third time.
• Indiana is aiming for its sixth top-10 finish. The Hoosiers last placed in the top 10 in 2010, tallying 133 points for 10th place. • Last year the Hoosiers were 12th with 118 points.
• The Hoosiers went 7-3 in dual meets this season, including victories in the final six dual meets of the year. • Their only losses came at the hands of No. 6 Texas, No. 8 Auburn and No. 15 Michigan. All three losses came back in October.
• Brooklynn Snodgrass (100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 400 medley relay, 200 medley relay, 800 freestyle relay), Gia Dalesandro (400 medley relay, 200 medley relay), and Cynthia Pammett (800 freestyle relay) are Indiana's returning All-American.s
2015 BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP • The Indiana women finished second at the 2015 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, held Feb. 18-21 at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus Ohio.
• IU tallied 591 points. Minnesota was crowned champion with 618.5 points. • The difference? The disqualification of Indiana's 400 medley relay which had placed fifth, good for 28 points.
• Hoosiers took home Big Ten titles in the 800 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly and platform diving. • Freshman Kennedy Goss was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year after winning the 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 800 freestyle relay and taking seventh in the 100 freestyle and third in the 400 freestyle relay.
• Junior Brooklynn Snodgrass made it three years in a row with a backstroke sweep, taking the 100 back in 51.51, a new Big Ten meet record and the 200 back in 1:50.60, also a new Big Ten meet record. • Sophomore Gia Dalesandro defended her title in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:55.10. She was also second in the 100 fly with a school record time of 52.07, just 6/100ths of a second off the winning time.
• Haley Lips, Goss, Grace Vertigans and Snodgrass teamed up to set a new Big Ten record in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:59.10. • Lips was second to Goss in both the 500 freestyle (4:38.27-career best) and 200 freestyle (1:44.68).
• Freshman diver Jessica Parratto set a new Big Ten record on the platform with her winning score of 424.45. She also placed fourth on the 1-meter and second on the 3-meter. • IU had five of the top eight finishers in the 200 backstroke, going 1-3-4-7-8. Behind Snodgrass was Allie Day in third (1:54.14), Cynthia Pammett in fourth (1:54.4), Marie Chamberlain in seventh (1:55.87) and Justine Ress eighth (1:55.92). Dorina Szekers won the consolation final to take ninth in 1:56.42.
• It was 1-4-7-8 Hoosiers in the 100 backstroke with Snodgrass, Chamberlain (52.91-career best), Ress (53.15) and Day (53.40). • Bailey Pressey took third in the 200 fly with a career-best time of 1:56.54.
DIVERS QUALIFY AT ZONE C CHAMPIONSHPS
• Both Indiana divers punched their ticket to the NCAA Championships with performances at the NCAA Zone C Championships, March 12-14 in Columbus, Ohio. • Freshman Jessica Parratto qualified on all three events. Parratto won the platform with a 12-dive score of 677.20, more than 100 points ahead of the second-place competitior.
• Parratto also finished fourth on the 1-meter (604.75) and third on the 3-meter (653.25). • Junior Lacey Houser took seventh on the 3-meter to earn her NCAA spot, scoring 637.40 points. Houser finished eighth on the 1-meter (588.00).
• Houser placed 17th in the platform competition with a score of 392.75. • Women's divers in Zone C were allotted eight NCAA qualifying spots on the 1-meter, nine spots on the 3-meter and eight spots on the platform. Once you earned one of those allotted spots, you qualified to dive the other events at the NCAA Championships by placing in the top-12 in that event at the Zone C Championships.
IU FINISHES 12th AT 2014 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
• The IU women finished with 118 points for a 12th-place finish at the 2013 NCAA Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. • Sophomore Brooklynn Snodgrass became just the second female swimmer in IU history to win an NCAA title, winning the 200 backstroke in a loaded field with a time of 1:50.52. Snodgrass was also fourth in the 100 back, setting a new Big Ten record with a time of 51.05.
• Senior Lindsay Vrooman posted top-five finishes in her two specialties, the 500 free and 1,650 free. Vrooman was fourth in the 500 free with a time of 4:36.02, while her fifth-place time of 15:44.45 in the 1,650 free is a new Big Ten record. • Senior Kate Hillman capped off her IU career with a 10th-place finish on the platform, tallying a score of 307.20.
• Senior Bronwyn Pasloski took ninth in the 100 breaststroke, setting a new school record of 59.39. • Senior Brenna MacLean also capped her career on a high note, taking 13th in the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.44. • The 400 medley relay team of Snodgrass, Pasloski, Gia Dalesandro and Kait Flederbach came in 9th with a time of 3:30.56.

INDIANA AT THE NCAA MEET • The Hoosiers have produced five NCAA champions, three of whom have come in the last five NCAA meets.
• Kimiko Hirai was the first female NCAA Champion for IU, winning the 1-meter springboard at the 1996 NCAA Championships. • Cassandra Cardinell won the NCAA platform title in 2005.
• Christina Loukas continued IU's strong diving tradition with an NCAA Championship title in the 3-meter springboard in 2009. • In 2010, Kate Fesenko became the first NCAA Champion in a swimming event for IU, winning the 200 backstroke.
• Brooklynn Snodgrass became the second Hoosier swimmer to win an NCAA title, winning the 200 backstroke at the 2014 NCAA meet. • The Hoosiers have posted three top-10 finishes in the last seven years (2008, 09, 10) and four overall.
• Indiana best showing at the national meet came in 2008-09 when it posted 152 points.
BIG TEN HONORS HOOSIERS SWIMMERS • Brooklynn Snodgrass has four Big Ten Swimmer of the Week awards, while Kennedy Goss has been named Freshman of the Week three times.
• Jessica Parratto has taken home two Big Ten Diver of the Week awards, with one for Lacey Houser.
CSCAA RANKINGS • In the most recent women's College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) rankings, the Indiana women come in at No. 15.
• Minnesota is No. 14, followed by No. 17 Michigan, No. 21 Purdue, No. 22 Ohio State and No. 24 Wisconsin.
HOOSIER OLYMPIANS • Indiana women's swimming and diving was represented at the 2012 London Games by two former and one current Hoosier.
• Former IU diver Christina Loukas (2005-09) represented Team USA on the 3-meter springboard, placing 8th in the final. • Recent IU graduate and 2012 All-American Margaux Farrell swam for France, where she took home a bronze medal as a member of the 800-meter freestyle relay team.
• Current IU junior Dorina Szekeres represented her native Hungary in the 200-meter backstroke, placing fourth in her heat and 35th overall. • Indiana was also represented in the NBC broadcast booth as former Hoosier diver Cynthia Potter handled diving commentator duties.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
• Several Hoosiers picked up national titles at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals Championships and the USA Diving Winter Nationals. • Brooklynn Snodgrass was crowned a national champion in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 800 free relay at the USA Swimming event in December.
• Joining her as a national titlist in the 800 free relay were Haley Lips, Cynthia Pammett and Kennedy Goss. • At the USA Diving Winter Nationals, Jessica Parratto won gold in the platform competition and earned another title alongside former Hoosier Amy Cozad in the synchro platform event.
SNODGRASS WINS INTERNATIONAL MEDALS
• It was a busy summer in the pool for junior Brooklynn Snodgrass as she represented her native Canada at a pair of international meets. • Snodgrass picked up a bronze medal in the 50-meter backstroke at the Commonwealth Games with a Canadian record time of 27.97.
• At the Pan Pacific Championships in August, Snodgrass took home another bronze, this one as part of Canada's 400 medley relay team.
