Hoosiers Take Down Wisconsin, 5-2

MADISON, Wis. -- The No. 39 Indiana men's tennis team won the doubles point and didn't look back as they earned a 5-2 victory at Wisconsin on Friday.
 
Wisconsin got some early momentum by winning the first doubles match, but the Hoosiers countered with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles and earned the doubles point with a win at No. 1 doubles.
 
The Hoosiers (12-7, 1-2) and Badgers (4-12, 1-3) each won three first sets in singles play.
 
Indiana capitalized on its three first sets in singles and went up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win by senior Sven Lalic. The Hoosiers went up 3-0 on a 6-4, 6-2 victory by junior Daniel Bednarczyk at No. 2 singles, but Wisconsin answered with a win at No. 6 singles to make the overall score 3-1.
 
Sophomore Matthew McCoy clinched the match for the Hoosiers with a 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 5 singles position.
 
Next up the Hoosiers travel to Minnesota for a Sunday match at 1:00 p.m. ET.
