Hoosiers Fall on the Road at Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 39 Indiana men's tennis team came up short on the road against No. 31 Minnesota in a 4-0 defeat on Sunday.
 
The doubles competition came down to two close matches at No. 1 and No. 3 after Minnesota took the No. 2 doubles match, 8-4.
 
The Hoosiers had leads at No. 1 and No. 3 and with the No. 1 doubles match 6-6 Minnesota scored two points to win 8-6 and clinch the doubles point. At the time the No. 1 doubles match ended the No. 3 doubles match was in a tiebreak at 7-7.  
 
Minnesota gained early momentum in singles play by winning first sets in five of the six singles matches. Junior Daniel Bednarczyk won his first set for the Hoosiers 6-1.
 
Minnesota took singles matches at 1, 3 and 6 in straight sets to claim the 4-0 victory. Bednarczyk's match was in a third set when play was halted.
 
Up next the Hoosiers returns home for a pair of Big Ten matches on Friday April 3 against Nebraska and Sunday April 5 against Iowa. Both matches are scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. ET.
