Hoosiers Drop Michigan, 5-2

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The No. 43 Indiana men's tennis team won the first four points of the match and cruised to a 5-2 victory over Michigan on Friday at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts.
 
The Hoosiers (17-9, 6-4) got wins at No. 1 doubles (8-3) and No. 3 doubles 8-4 to secure the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Junior Daniel Bednarczyk and sophomore Matthew McCoy worked quickly to straight set wins to put the Hoosiers within a point of clinching the match.
 
Junior Sam Monette won his first set 6-2, but had to battle back after falling behind 3-0 in the second set. Monette came back to win the second set 7-5 and clinch the match for the Hoosiers.
 
With the win the Hoosiers surpass their win total from a season ago and have three more Big Ten wins than last season.
 
Up next Indiana closes out the Big Ten regular season with a senior day matchup with Michigan State on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
