COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Indiana women's golf team is currently in fifth place after 36 holes at the Lady Buckeye Invitational on the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club.
Indiana tallied rounds of 298 and 304 for a 36-hole total of 602. Kent State leads the way at 585, followed by the host Buckeyes (588), Michigan State (592) and Kansas State (601) among the top five in the 12-team field.
Indiana was tied for third after the first round led by a 4-under 68 from senior Elizabeth Tong. That matches her career best and left her in first place after 18 holes, with Tong carding six birdies in the round. Tong went -5 over the final 12 holes of the round. Tong posted a 74 in the second round and is currently second overall in the field.
Freshman Pear Siriko is tied for 28th. Siriko was tied with Camille Chevalier in 17th after the first 18 holes, carding her first-round birdie on the par-4 third hole for a 75. She posted a 78 in the second round for a tally of 153.
Junior Camille Chevalier is one stroke behind Siriko, tied for 34th. Chevalier was tied for 17th after the first round with a 75, a birdie coming on the par-4 second hole. A second-round 79 puts her at 154 for the tournament.
Theresa-Ann Jedra is tied for 44th at 156. Jedra's first-round 81 saw her post three double bogeys but countered that with 10 holes of par and a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole. She bounced back with the second-lowest IU score in the second round at 75.
Sophomore Ana Sanjuan sits tied for 48th in the field with a score of 157. Sanjuan shot an 80 in the first round, going -1 over the final four hole with a birdie on the par-3 eighth hole. She came back the second time around with a 77.
Junior Maria Mancini tallied a score of 172 on day one and is in 75th place. Mancini posted a 90 in the first round, then chopped eight strokes off that total with a 82 on her second pass.
Senior Sarah Dusman leads Indiana's individuals, tied for 40th. Dusman shot a 7-over 79 in round one and was tied for 40th after 18 holes before posting a 76 in the second round (155). Junior Marissa DeCola was also tied for 40th after the first round with a 79, including a birdie on the par-4 15th hole but countered with an 81 in the second round (160).
The tournament concludes Sunday with 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. ET.
