Hoosiers Finish 4th at Lady Buckeye Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Indiana University women's golf team posted its best team finish of the season, placing fourth at the Lady Buckeye Invitational on the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club.
Indiana carded a final round 306 to finish with a 54-hole tally of 908. Kent State won the event at 883, followed by the host Buckeyes (886), Michigan State (890) and the Hoosiers. Kansas State (909) rounded out the top five in the 12-team tournament.
Senior Elizabeth Tong paced the team with her best finish of the 2014-15 season, coming in second with a score of 215 (68-74-73). Tong's final round 73 included 15 holes of par or better and going -2 over the first 14 holes of the day.
Junior Camille Chevalier shot a 78 on Sunday and tied for 33rd with a score of 232 (75-79-78). Chevalier had one birdie on the day with a three on the par-4 10th hole.
Freshman Pear Siriko tied for 39th with a score of 234 (75-78-81). An otherwise solid round for Siriko was marred by tripe bogeys on four and eight.
One shot back in a tie for 42nd was sophomore Ana Sanjuan (80-77-78). Sanjuan had 11 holes of par or better, highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 13th hole.
Freshman Theresa-Ann Jedra posted an 81 on Sunday and placed tied for 49th (81-75-81). Jedra was even through the first six holes of the day thanks to a birdie on the par-4 10th hole.
After a rocky first day junior Maria Mancini came back to post a 77 on Sunday and finish 70th (90-82-77). Mancini had two birdies on the day, shooting three on the par-4 18th hole and a three on the par-4 1st hole to sit at even par after 11 holes of play.
The Hoosiers had two individuals playing in the tournament, led by senior Sarah Dusman who finished 53rd with a score of 239 (79-76-84). Dusman had a birdie on the par-3 13th hole but was forced to battle back from double bogeys on 15 and four, as well as a triple bogey on seven.
Junior Marissa DeCola tied for 54th, one stroke back from Dusman with a 240 (79-81-80). DeCola limited her compound errors to just a single double bogey on 15, posting 11 rounds of par.
The Hoosiers now focus on the 2015 Big Ten Championships, April 24-26 at The Fort Golf Resort in Indianapolis.
