SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Indiana University freshman diver Jessica Parratto earned a silver medal in her 3-meter springboard synchro international debut at the 2015 FINA Puerto Rico Grand Prix Sunday afternoon.
Parratto and partner Deidre Freeman scored 272.40 points for a second-place finish in the 3-meter synchro competition on the final day of the event. Earlier in the week Parratto finished 11th on the platform with a score of 249.20. Former Hoosier All-American Amy Cozad was 10th in the same event with a tally of 264.30.
Parratto and Cozad then teamed up to place fourth in the synchro platform competition, scoring 270.18 points. In the men's competition, former Indiana Big Ten Champion Darian Schmidt placed 17th on the 3-meter springboard with a score of 335.05.
Indiana divers will turn their focus to the USA Diving World Championship Individual Trials, set for May 15-17 at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington. The three-day event will be free and open to the public. Parratto and Cozad have already qualified for the world championships in synchro platform, while sophomore Michael Hixon qualified on the 1-meter in December.
