BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -The No. 12 Hoosiers concluded their regular season with a 14-1 victory over the Notre Dame College Falcons. Indiana notched 10 consecutive goals before conceding their first, and held Notre Dame College scoreless for the first 21 minutes of the game.
Five Hoosiers scored multiple goals in Sunday’s win: Jennifer Beadle, Devon Peterson, Emily Lowe, Rebecca Gerrity, and Sarah Young. Other players on the scoreboard for Indiana were Summer Creighton, Shelby Taylor, Alexis Jones, Sarah Myers, and Colleen McNaught netted one goal apiece.
Indiana sophomore Bronwyn Smith was the only player with multiple assists, but 11 other Hoosiers notched a tally in the assist column.
Mary Campbell and MacKenzie Bonk combined for 10 saves in the cage against the Falcons, bringing their weekend total to 40 saves. They led a stingy Indiana defense down the final stretch of the regular season.
The Hoosiers closed the season on an eight-game winning streak, and have won nine of their last ten matches. They will look to carry that momentum into the CWPA Tournament, which kicks off on Friday, April 24 and concludes on Sunday, April 26.
Due to a three-way tie at the top of the standings between Indiana, Michigan, and Princeton, the tournament seeding will be determined by a tiebreaker, the goal differential of the games between the tied teams. That being the case, it is likely that Princeton (+1) would get the top seed, followed by Indiana (+/- 0) and Michigan (-1).
Indiana’s opponent and match time for their first game of the CWPA Tournament remains to be determined.
