NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Indiana University senior golfer Elizabeth Tong carded a 79 in the first round of competition at the 2015 NCAA Women's Golf South Bend Regional in Notre Dame, Indiana.
The 54-hole tournament continues Friday with Tong teeing off at 8:45 a.m. ET from No. 10. She will be paired with Gabby Yurik from Michigan State and Martina Edberg of Cal State Fullerton. Tong is currently tied for 70th in the field.
Tong opened the round with par on four of her first five holes, recovering from a bogey on the first hole. A bogey on five was followed by a double on six and another bogey on seven. She hit par on eight and nine to make the turn at +5.
The back nine was much kinder to the senior as she recorded par on seven of nine holes, recording her only bogeys on that half of the course on the par-3 14th hole and par-4 18th hole.
