Indiana's 1V8 boat picked up its fifth win in six races this season

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The First Varsity 8 crew for No. 12 Indiana continued its winning ways on the first day of the 7th Annual Dale England Cup at Lake Lemon just oustide Bloomington. Conditions were favorable with a slight chop and 8 mph head wind.
The top crew for IU posted the fastest time of the day (6:43.5) to defeat Notre Dame by eight seconds. In a separate heat, No. 12 Texas defeated Columbia with a time of 6:48.4 for a 18 second margin of victory. The win for Indiana 1V8 gave them five wins in six competitive races this spring.
In the 2V8 race between Indiana and Notre Dame, it would be the Fighting Irish that came out on top with their time of 7:00.6 topping the Hoosiers time of 7:05.3. In the other heat, Texas defeated Columbia.
The 1V4 race was also a nip and tuck affair between IU and ND, with the Irish once again picking up the win with a time of 7:49.3 while Indiana came in two seconds behind them at 7:51.3.
The Hoosiers 3V8 won its heat against the N8 from Notre Dame by just 0:00.7, by far the closest race of the day. Another race between the 2N8 from Indiana and the 4V8 from Notre Dame ended with Notre Dame ahead by nine seconds.
The first races of the day were a couple of 2V4 boats from Indiana going against Texas and ND. In both races, the visiting crews defeated the Indiana 'A' and Indiana 'B' boats.
Saturday's schedule has been adjusted from the original published version, due to the inclement weather that is expected to hit Bloomington during the day on Saturday. The first race of the day will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will feature all four of the 1V8 boats. The next race will be all four 2V8 boats followed by all four 1V4 boats.
Then a heat of 2V4 crews will race before the final race of the morning will have a number of different novice 8 and 3V8 and 4V8 boats.
