Saturday Recap From Big Ten Championship

All four IU boats that raced in preliminary heats on Saturday advanced to the finals

INDIANAPOLIS -- The 2015 Big Ten Championships at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis got underway on Saturday and each of the four IU crews that competed advanced to the finals that will take place on Sunday.
The top performance on Saturday came from the First Varsity 8 boat, which won its heat in a time of 6:41.334, over four seconds ahead of Wisconsin in second place.
The Second Varsity 8 boat had to battle right down to the finish line before coming away with a second place finish, posting a time of 7:01.034, just 0:00.486 ahead of Michigan State in third place and two seconds ahead of Iowa in fourth place. The top three boats in each race advanced to the finals on Sunday.
The First Varsity 4 boat crossed the finish line in third place in their heat, falling just two seconds shy of Michigan in second place. And the Novice 8 placed second in its heat with their time of 7:09.763 comfortably ahead of Iowa in third place more than nine seconds back.
Sunday's finals will get underway at 7:30 a.m. ET, which is 90 minutes earlier than originally announced due to forecasted inclement weather later in the morning.
