INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana First Varsity Eight earned a medal at the Big Ten Championships for the second straight year, finishing third behind Ohio State and Michigan at the 2015 Big Ten Rowing Championship at Eagle Creek Park.
As a team, Indiana finished in fourth place with 121 points. It marks the second straight year the Hoosiers have finished in fourth place at the Big Ten Championships. Ohio State claimed it's third straight conference title while Michigan was second and Wisconsin was third.
Prior to the 2014 Big Ten Championships, Indiana had never received a medal at the conference championship. But they have now received three medals in the last two years combined (1V8 - 2014, 2015; 2V8 - 2014).
The First Varsity 8 posted a time of 6:46.106, which was just four seconds behind first place Ohio State - the defending national champions - and Michigan in second place. The Hoosiers had to battle back throughout the race, but their push in the closing 250 meters came up just short.

And the final race of the day saw Indiana post a fourth place finish in the Second Novice 8. The IU time of 7:42.879 was eight seconds behind Wisconsin in third place.
Senior Meradith Dickensheets was named First Team All-Big Ten for the second straight year while sophomore Alice Wright and junior Rebecca Brougher were named to the Second Team. Senior Lindsey Barber was the team's Sportsmanship nominee.
The NCAA Selection Show for the NCAA Rowing Championships takes place on Tuesday, May 19 at 5:00 p.m. (Watch Here), where the Hoosiers will be looking for their second consecutive at-large bid. The regatta will take place May 29-31 in Sacramento, Calif.
