Rowing Hosts 7th Annual Dale England Cup

Racing takes place Friday and Saturday at Lake Lemon just outside Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana Rowing team, ranked No. 11 in the latest CRCA Coaches Poll, will close out the regular season with the seventh annual Dale England Cup on Lake Lemon in Bloomington. The Hoosiers will host Notre Dame, Texas and Columbia.
The regatta gets underway at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at Lake Lemon. Then on Saturday, the morning session starts at 8:30 a.m. followed by the afternoon session that begins around 11:40 a.m. See the "Regatta Information" link above for more information, heat sheets and directions.

A LOOK AT THE OPPONENTS
TEXAS: On April 1, Texas made their first appearance in the CRCA Coaches Poll since March 2012. That same week, the second varsity eight for the Longhorns was named Big 12 Boat of the Week.
COLUMBIA: The Lions finished in second three of the four events at the Woodbury Cup. The Lions Varsity Eight also placed second against No. 9 Yale at the Connell Cup earlier this season.
NOTRE DAME: The Irish claimed the group title over San Diego and Gonzaga at the Lake Natoma Invitational a few weeks ago. The Fighting Irish also took home six race victories combined against No. 1 Ohio State, Michigan State and No. RV Louisville during the Big Ten/ACC Double Dual Regatta earlier this season. The Fighting Irish return 16 student-athletes that competed in last season's NCAA Championship, where the team finished No. 9.
LAST WEEK AT CLEMSON
The Hoosiers picked up a pair of two wins and two top three finished while competing against No. 12 Texas last weekend at the Clemson Invitational. The Indiana First Varsity 8 came in at 6:25.7 while the Longhorn First Varsity 8 posted a time of 6:28.6. In addition the Hoosiers ' Second Varsity 8 won the race with a time of 6:35.1 compared to Texas coming in second at 6:39.6. Both the Indiana First Varsity 4 and the Second Varsity 4 fell short to Texas.
BIG TEN BOAT OF THE WEEK
The 1V8 boat made up of Karly Kikkert, Alice Wright, Meradith Dickensheets, Madison Treser, Alexandra Morrison, Emily Barber, Alexandra Eaton, Rebecca Brougher and Asja Zero was named Boat of the Week on April 14by the Big Ten Conference.
The Hoosiers took down then-No. 7 Michigan as well as Michigan State last weekend in Ann Arbor. The win over the Wolverines was the first against UM in the history of the IU rowing program.
The last Boat of the Week honor for Indian went to the Varsity 4 on April 29, 2014, and the last time the 1V8 landed the weekly honor from the conference office was March 27, 2012. It was the second of back-to-back weeks earning the Boat of the Week accolades for the 1V8 that season.

LOOKING AHEAD
After taking next week off from competition, the Hoosiers will take part in the Big Ten Championships May 16-17 at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.
