8/29/2015 12:24:00 AM | Women's Volleyball
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After dropping the first set, the Indiana volleyball team fought back to win the next two, but eventually lost a 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 13-15) match to Cleveland State in their second match of the Blue Raider Bash.
After her career-high 26 kills in the Hoosiers (1-1) five set win against Bowling Green, earlier in the day, senior Amelia Anderson led IU with 22 kills.
On the defensive end, junior Jazzmine McDonald registered a season-high seven blocks and senior libero Courtney Harnish added 21 digs, for a two-match total of 40 digs in 10 sets.
Junior Taylor Lebo saw her first action of the season and ignited an 8-0 IU run in set two, including two aces to close out the set for the Hoosiers, 25-22.
In the third set Anderson connected for six kills on seven swings to power the Hoosiers to a 25-21 win. Cleveland State would come back and take the fourth set 25-21 to tie the match 2-2 and force a fifth set.
In set five it was junior Allison Hammond, who caught fire for the Hoosiers. Hammond hit .714 in the set with six of her 18 total kills.
The fifth set went back and fourth with five ties and a Hammond kill tied the set 12-12. A Cleveland State kill and Indiana error put the Vikings up 14-12. Hammond would put down another kill from junior Megan Tallman to put to within 14-13, but a Cleveland State kill ended the match.
