Tucker Posts Top 3 Finish in 200 IM

SAN ANTONIO – On the final day of the 2015 Speedo Junior National Championships, incoming freshman Miranda Tucker once again wrote her name into the long course record book at Indiana, this time in the 200 IM.
Tucker qualified for the finals with a time of 2:17.59 in the prelims, which was the fourth fastest of the day and just outside the top five all-time long course records at Indiana. Then in the finals, she lowered her time to 2:16.92 to finish in third place in the A Final. The time was also the third-fastest time in IU history in the 200 IM. Shelly Drozda also competed in the 200 IM and finished with a time of 2:21.56 in the preliminary rounds.
Tucker also competed in the women's 50 free but her time of 27.33 was not enough to advance to the finals.
While the Junior Nationals are completed, the 2015 FINA World Championships continue in Kazan, Russia, and the Hoosiers still have a couple of current and former swimmers that will be competing. On Tuesday, Kennedy Goss will swim in the preliminary and semifinal rounds of the 200-meter free.
