Hoosiers Win Sixth Straight

Senior Amelia Anderson passes 900 career kills.
GREELEY, Colo. – The Indiana volleyball team pushed its win streak to six with a four set (25-19, 18-25, 25-23, 25-21) victory over Utah State in their second match of the Northern Colorado Classic.
Senior Amelia Anderson led the Hoosiers with 18 kills as she passed the 900 mark for her career. Also in double-digit kills for the Hoosiers, junior Allison Hammond tallied 11 and senior middle blocker Awele Nwaeze recorded 10. Middle blocker and senior Chanté George registered seven kills on 10 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage.
Megan Tallman had 46 assists for the Hoosiers and senior libero Courtney Harnish added 15 digs for Indiana.
The Hoosiers (9-2) and Aggies (3-9) split the first two sets, with the Hoosiers taking set one 25-19 and Utah State coming back for a 25-18 victory in set two to even the match 1-1.
Set three had six ties, including 11-11 when the Hoosiers scored three in a row with an ace from senior Kyndall Merritt and back-to-back kills from Hammond. The Hoosiers would not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the set, although Utah State narrowed a four-point deficit to just one at 24-23. Following an Indiana timeout, Tallman set Nwaeze for a kill to win the set.
In set four the Hoosiers hit .297 with 18 kills, led by five from Anderson. Tallman tallied 16 of her 46 assists in the set, but the Hoosiers trailed 9-4 in the beginning. Utah State extended their lead to 16-11, which led to an Indiana timeout to talk it over.
With freshman Samantha Fogg serving, the Hoosiers used a 5-0 run to even the set at 16-16. With the score knotted, 18-18, the Hoosiers scored seven of the last 10 points with a kill from Anderson to secure the match victory for the Hoosiers.
