Hoosiers Win Northern Colorado Classic

GREELEY, Colo. – For the sixth time in the last 25 years the Indiana volleyball team has totaled 10 or more non-conference wins by winning the Northern Colorado Classic with a three set (25-21, 25-14, 25-23) win over Northern Colorado on Saturday night.
The Hoosiers (10-2) pushed its win streak to seven matches, a feat achieved just three times in the last 14 years, the last being in 2010, the year the Hoosiers advanced to the Sweet 16.
The tournament win for the Hoosiers is the 16th non-conference tournament victory for the Hoosiers under head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan.
Senior Amelia Anderson tallied 20 of her 46 kills on the weekend and hit almost .400 to help the Hoosiers beat the Bears.
Anderson had lots of help, including fellow senior Chanté George, who registered 10 kills on 12 attempts with two errors to hit at a .667 hitting efficiency.
George, along with seniors Courtney Harnish and Kyndall Merritt were named to the All-Tournament Team with Harnish earning Most Valuable Player honors.
Junior Megan Tallman paced the offensive attack with 42 assists and senior Awele Nwaeze contributed eight kills and five blocks for the match.
Up next the Hoosiers begin Big Ten play on the road as they battle Michigan State on Sept. 25 and Michigan on Sept. 26.
