Hoosiers Outstanding in Day One of the Indiana Relays
Just one week after breaking the school record in the 800m run, Daniel Kuhn set another school record in the 600m run with a time of 1:16.91 which is atop the record book. This time puts him on top of the national list as well.
Zach Bray advanced to the finals of the 60m hurdles with a career best time of 8.05. That time moves him into the fourth spot on the all-time indoor list. Cornelius Strickland won his heat of the 60m dash with a time of 6.85 to advance to the finals. Strickland also won the 200m dash with a time of 21.54. Carl Smith sprinted to the line to finish second in the 5,000m run with a season best time of 14:32.58.
Treyton Harris won the long jump with a career best mark of 7.44m. Willie Morrison took first in the shot put with a career best throw of 18.63m. That throw moves Morrison to fourth in the record book. Terry Batemon won the pole vault with a mark of 5.06m.
Ari Nelson finished third in the long jump with a career best mark of 6.06m. She remains in ninth on the all-time indoor list. Nakel McClinton set a new season best with a throw of 14.95m in the shot put.
Kendell Wiles won the 600m run with a career best time of 1:31.47. That time is also good enough for sixth best in school history and eleventh in the nation. Taylor Wiley finished second overall in the event with a time of 1:32.33. Mackenzie Bollinger won her heat of the 600m run, and finished fifth overall, with a season best time of 1:33.89. Chanli Mundy took first in the 5,000m run with a time of 16:58.29. Amanda Behnke finished the event in third.
The distance medley relay team of Brenna Calder, Riley Egbula, Olivia Hippensteel, and Brianna Johnson cruised to victory with a time of 11:37.26. That time is the second best time in the Big Ten conference.
Day two of the Indiana Relays will resume at 11:00AM with the women's weight throw and mile run. The finals of the 60m dash and 60m hurdles will follow the mile run.
