Indiana Wraps Up Play at Powerade Cougar Classic

HANAHAN, S.C. – Junior Alix Kong and senior Ana Sanjuan each posted even par performances as the Indiana Women's Golf team wrapped up play at the Powerade Cougar Classic on Tuesday.

Kong and Sanjuan each turned in a 72 in the third and final round at Yeamans Hall Club. Kong was the IU leader in the tournament, finishing tied for 27^th with a 1-over par finish with a combined 217. In Tuesday's round, Kong was able to birdie two of the three first holes of the day and stayed even on the front nine.

Sanjuan collected four birdies, two of which came in the first five holes of action. She rounded out the tournament with a tied for 45^th place finish at 4-over par (220). Freshman Elisa Pierre shot a 75 in the closing round to finish with a three round score low of the season with a 224 and finished tied for 70^th.

Senior Theresa-Ann Jedra finished with an 80 (236, T102) while junior Pear Siriko (107, 253) added an 83 in play on Tuesday to round out the IU lineup.

North Carolina was the tournament winner, shooting a new tournament low of 838 to finish 26-under par. Furman (846), Wake Forest (851), Florida State (855) and UCF (856) rounded out the top five. Indiana finished a season-low 897 for its three round score of the season which put them in a tie for 19^th place at the conclusion of the tournament.

The Hoosiers will wrap up the fall season on Oct. 23-25 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Invitational hosted by UNLV.
